Christmas

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I also hope you're being safe and enjoying all this snow! I can't believe how fast Christmas comes and goes. I really want Christmas break to last longer, it's been so nice just working and not having to go to school. I'm enjoying my new camera that I bought on black Friday and of course Lucy is being a ham and posing for the camera. As you can see, she will sit on a stool with a santa hat on and hold really still. . . really, she'll do anything for cheese. She should be a doggy model except she's a little on the chubby side! Being so busy with school and work, I didn't do many crafts this season. I usually like to hand make most of my gifts. That didn't happen because time didn't allow. . . although we did have one craft night where I made these cute elf shoes! It was fun! Hope you all had a great Christmas and are enjoying the holidays!

Black Friday & Thankfulness

In my brain, I already wrote a Thanksgiving post. . . Turns out, in reality, I didn't. Oops! I didn't have to work on Thanksgiving this year, which is new for me. It was quite nice! Thanksgiving was good, good food and family. Black Friday was awesome. Those people who are black Friday haters. . . I know, I get it. You spend a whole day being thankful and then the next day you go fight people for merchandise. Ironic. But hey, I don't really need a special "day" to be thankful. I'm thankful on days even when I don't have to be told to be thankful. I could write the cliche' post about what I'm thankful for. . . but really, I'm just thankful for my life and all that comes with it. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the pretty. All of it. . . it's crazy most of the time but it's good. 

Anyway, on to black Friday. . . it's amazing. I love it! I usually don't have a list when I go, I just go for the kicks and giggles. But this year, I had a mission to buy a certain camera. Caecee and I started at 8:00pm on Thanksgiving night. We both wanted the same camera and we were determined. One thing I refuse to do is camp out. . . I just won't go that far. So we usually show up a little bit before the store opens and get in line. Our camera was a target so we showed up a little early and got in line. The camera was a doorbuster which means that they only have a limited amount. We were fairly confidant about where we were in line and we only waited about a half hour for the doors to open. We hurried (without running- I would have ran but there were police officers all over) over to the camera spot and they were already out. Dang it! I was so mad!!! I was disappointed because I never go out for one specific item and the year I do, of course I don't get it. We decided to chance it and hurry over to the Orem Target and see if they had any left. I wasn't too hopeful because they had already been open for 40 minutes and seeing as how quickly American Fork sold out, I was doubtful. In Orem, there was still a huge line to even get in the store. . . but we waited and finally got in. They still had cameras! So we waited in the camera line and luckily, we both got the camera we wanted for such a great price! I am so happy with my purchase! That made my night but of course we didn't stop there. We went to pretty much every store in the county. We went to Target, Best Buy, visited Zach in line at Cabelas, Famous Footwear, Shoe Carnival, Old Navy, Kohls, Walmart, the new Nike outlet, hmmm I'm sure there were more! We finally ended our journey at 5:00am the next morning. It was great! I love our black Friday adventures! Nonetheless, I am thankful for Thanksgiving, even without black Friday. 

Duck Dynasty

I have a problem with reality television. It's my secret addiction. I think I like it because it's not my drama, so it's entertaining. It's like watching a train wreck. . . you don't wanna look yet, you can't look away. My new show that I'm proud of is Duck Dynasty. It is not drama, but it is soooo entertaining! It's a reality television show about the family that turned duck calls for hunting into a multi-million dollar business yet, it's still a family owned and operated company. They are HUGE rednecks from the backwoods of Louisiana. They all have massive beards and hair, they also wear camouflage all the time. It is mostly about the father who started the company, his wife and their two grown sons. One of the sons is now the CEO of the company and the other son invents new duck calls and helps hand build all of the duck calls. The sons are married to normal ladies but live a life full of crazy adventures. They're all rednecks. . . It is so my kind of show. I find it hilarious. Seriously, possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen. They do the most crazy things and it's all real, they are humble people who hold tight to their beliefs and ways of life despite their money. Uncle Si has got to be my favorite, by far. He is just crazy. Good crazy. He is constantly drinking iced tea and saying "Hey, Jack". No one on the show is named Jack. . . it's just his thing. He is full of crazy stories and just about anything that comes out of his mouth makes me laugh. The show is about the company and their lives, and all of the adventures in between. You probably think I'm crazy because it sounds like a crazy show but it is so entertaining. And I don't care who you are, if you don't think laugh hysterically when you watch it, something is wrong with you. The short video clip posted below probably isn't funny unless you have watched the show, but I just had to post it. Redneck rap. . . I laugh so hard every time!!

Groovy Halloween 2012

I love Halloween!!! I don't understand at all how you cannot like it. It is the best! Dressing up as whatever you want to be, candy, spooky, and all the fun decorations! Ah! It is my favorite holiday by far. I always feel bad saying that because then people think that I don't love Jesus because I like Halloween better than Christmas. I do love Jesus. . . I just prefer Halloween over the commercial side of Christmas. It's just the best! For the past few years we've been dressing up as a group and this year we had a difficult time. I'm blaming it on school, the nursing program is so insane and all of my brain cells are focused on nursing so I didn't have my Halloween on turned as high as I normally do. I did get all of my outside of my house decorated, but the inside suffered because we've been dealing with flooding damage all month. We were going to be bikers for Halloween but changed our minds the day before and decided to be hippies. It was fun and easy. I bought myself a fro wig and some peace sign jewelry. I already had a tie dye shirt, so it was simple. The boys wore wigs, Caecee wore a hippie long haired wig, and I wore a fro. We were quite the crew. I still think our last years KISS costumes were the bomb-diggity, but hippies was fun too. I had the day off which was SO NICE! When you work 2 days a week and go to school 4-5 days a week, a day off is soooooo nice. I went to lunch with my mom and went to her work where they have a big Halloween day of events. Then my friends and I went out to dinner and went to Nightmare on 13th. I was a little disappointed with Nightmare because it wasn't as scary as it has been in years past. I still yelled expletives in certain spots because those actors that blend in with the wall and then pop out in your face get me every time!! We had fun! Lucy even wore her "spooky" shirt all day, even my dog loves Halloween! ;) I'm so sad Halloween is over . . .  :( We celebrated ALL month long. We went to almost every haunted house in Utah and Salt Lake county. We went to Frightmares at Lagoon which is always such a great time. We didn't carve pumpkins this year, but we did buy small  hand held pie pumpkins and went down to the lake and whacked them with baseball bats! It was like playing softball, but with pumpkin guts flying everywhere. It was the BEST anger management/stress reliever! Caecee and I even went to the Nightmare Express which even scared me a few times even though it's really for kiddos. It was such a fun month, I'm already counting down until next year. I was so grouchy the day after Halloween. Darn that Halloween candy hangover! At least now we have black Friday to look forward to, Thanksgiving break from school which is going to be so nice to have a few days off. Oh yeah, and that whole thing about Thanksgiving, being thankful, and all of that stuff. ;)
